Shirley R. Cormier is a native of Delcambre, Louisiana currently resides in Lafayette, Louisiana. She is an alumnus of Southern University A&M College earning a Bachelor of Science Degree (1971) and a Master’s Degree in Supervision/Administration.
Shirley was initiated into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Ⓡ, Eta Chi Omega Chapter 1985. 36 years of service with Eta Chi Omega has awarded her to the accomplishments of a Silver Star Member and a Life Member. She currently holds the position as the chapter’s hostess and the Sisterly Relation Chairman. In 2020, she was the Debutante Chairman.
Prior to retirement, her professional career field was in Vocational Secondary Education. She is a retired Dean of Students with a total of 46 years in Education. Through her career she was acknowledged as Teacher of the Year.
She enjoys event planning, interior designing, sewing, and food art. If you have been to any of Eta Chi Omega’s events and noticed the beautiful décor, you have probably witnessed Shirley’s talent works of art.
In addition, she is most passionate about Target 5 Global Impact because she uses the program's outreach opportunities to fulfill her calling to help mankind. Correspondingly, her favorite quote is “We Love because he first Loved Us” 1 John 4: 19.
Lastly, she is the beautiful mother of Jarmar Lyle Cormier and Jasherica LaChae' Noel. She has 6 grandchildren.
